...Freezing Rain Possible North of Interstate 74 Late Tonight
Through Early Saturday Morning...
Low pressure to our west will move into south central Illinois
early Saturday morning and across the lower Ohio River Valley by
late Saturday. This will spread rain northeast across the area
tonight. Temperatures will slip toward freezing during overnight
north of I-74, to produce light freezing rain overnight into
early Saturday morning. Ice accumulations of less than a tenth of
an inch are possible north of I-74, mainly on elevated surfaces,
trees and grassy areas, with a tenth to locally two tenths of an
inch possible towards the I-80 corridor by Saturday morning.
Icy spots could develop on some untreated roads north of I-74
later tonight, especially on bridges and overpasses. Allow extra
time to reach your destination if traveling north of I-74 across
northern parts of Illinois and Indiana from late this evening into
Saturday morning.
